- BetOnline Poker Review This review of BetOnline Poker also includes my review of BetOnline mobile poker. The reason is simple: sometimes, I like to play Poker while sitting on the chair on my porch. I don’t want just to be sitting on my computer all the time.

BetOnline poker states it is on their own poker network but seems to use the same software as the Action Poker Network and may share their players. Either way, this is a growing poker site with lots of freerolls, cash games and tournaments and Americans ought to at least check it out.

This poker room was created principally to target the existing customers of the BetOnline sportsbook after Black Friday dramatically reduced the number of online poker sites available to poker lovers based in the US.

For anyone who is purely interested in poker the target market for the site has to be a good thing. Sports bettors trying their luck at the card tables have to make for much softer opposition than can be found in the majority of poker rooms. Our review found that there are plenty of posts on forums suggesting that this is where you can easily win money if you know what you are doing as there are plenty of ‘fish’.

BetOnline have been involved in online gaming since 2001 and have built a good reputation. They are primarily known for providing a good sportsbook and have rapidly gained popularity with USA sports fans, providing commendable customer service. They currently claim to be the fastest growing sportsbook in the US.
BetOnline Poker is a relatively recent addition to their online offering which materialised after an incredibly soft launch in the summer of 2011. Any poker site is only as good as the network that it is on and BetOnline Poker are claiming to be on an independent network called Hero Poker Network.
A number of independent ‘experts’ on the poker forums are pretty certain that they are actually on the Action Poker Network, which has a bad reputation which is why this firm may have distanced itself from it.
Whilst the BetOnline sportsbook has an admirable record of providing good customer service, the poker section has attracted one or two negative comments about payouts our review discovered. We also noted that this site has addressed any criticisms made and that in itself is positive. It shows they want everyone to be happy. Be aware that payments are sometimes the area of difficulty for all American-serving firms.
Playing Poker at BetOnline Poker
There is a great choice of games. The volume of traffic is not huge but it is growing all the time and the most significant thing about this site is the weak opposition. There are plenty of fish and very few sharks.
You can choose between Limit and No Limit Hold’em and Omaha and some Stud Poker. There are freerolls every hour, on the hour and all imminent tournaments are clearly listed on the poker home page so you don’t have to spend long looking for a game or tournament to suit your taste and buy-in level.
Every month over $150k is up for grabs in guaranteed tournaments. The money is spread over several tournaments that take place each month with a fixed real cash buy-in level. Just click on the calendar for the month to see when the larger prizes are available. Unlike many other poker rooms the tournaments and games with the largest purses ($20K) are usually played mid week, on a Wednesday.
BetOnline Poker Deposits and Payouts
There are a number of deposit and payout options at the BetOnline Poker site with varying limits. BetOnline claim to have one of the widest selections of deposit methods currently available in online gaming, they certainly have more than most. They include Visa via Person to Person, Visa and American Express cards and Person to Person. All these methods have a minimum deposit level of $50 and a maximum of approximately $2,000.
You can make a deposit by MoneyOrders (which can be purchased at stores such as WalMart or at Post Offices etc) but the minimum is $300. You can also deposit using a Book to Book transfer if you are a member of another participating sportsbook. The minimum is $500 but there is no maximum amount for this method.
Bank Wire is another option but there is a $1,000 minimum deposit level for this and no upper limit. There is an even higher $1,500 minimum deposit level if you would like to do so by check via DHL, Fedex or UPS but be warned that this website will not accept your personal checks or money orders.
If you would like to make a smaller deposit, $10 is the minimum for Moneybookers and Neteller. The maximum is $50,000 for both these methods.
BetOnline Poker talk about lightning fast payouts but if you want your money fast, in common with the American market, you do have to pay for the privilege.
If you would like to receive your payout by check, there is a minimum payout level of $500 and a maximum of $2,500. If you would like your check delivered to your home within seven working days, there is a $50 fee. If you are prepared to wait up to 15 working days the fee is reduced to $35. If you don’t mind waiting for over a month, the fee is reduced to a reasonable $25.
Bank Wire payouts are another faster option our BetOnline Poker review unearthed. They usually take less than a week but may take as long as two weeks depending on your bank. Once again there is a $500 minimum but the maximum is $15,000 per week for bank wires. You will need to send your bank wire instructions by fax or email. A fee of $45 to $75 is charged for each transaction.
Some players are invited to receive payouts by $ACH. Payouts will be sent directly to your own bank account, arriving within seven business days. The minimum and maximum payouts by $ACH are $100 and $3,000 respectively and a fee between $20 and $75 will be charged.
Person to Person is another payout option. You are limited to one payout per week by this method and payout amounts can be between $100 and $2,500. Payouts are quick with your funds usually being available within 36 hours but there is a fee of $34 to $185. Payouts via Moneybookers will be available within a similar timescale and payouts can range between $25 and $8,000. There is a fixed fee of $20 per transaction but you can only receive payouts by Moneybookers if you deposited your money by this method. The same rules apply to payouts via Neteller – the limits and fee are the same and once again you can only receive payouts if you used Neteller to deposit your money too.
The final payout method is Book to Book. Transfers are fast and are often completed within a few hours but the minimum payout is $500 and fees which are not detailed on the Betonline Poker site will be charged for this type of transfer.
BetOnline Poker Review Verdict
The positives are that the payments in and out are better than at a lot of American sites. The poker network is unique and growing, even if there is a question as to whether they share players with the Action Poker network or not. Clarity on this would be appreciated. They accept players from every USA state and that is a huge positive as many sites do restrict some US locations. They do address any issues that may arise and they seem to want to grow and become as reputable a place as their sportsbook. We think BetOnline Poker is a good location to join, especially if you are in one of those restricted locations that the likes of Bovada can not serve.
