Paul ‘The Irish Dragon’ Felder (17-4-0)
The UFC schedule is heating up during the first quarter of 2020 as were gifted with countless live martial arts shows and mouth-watering main events. One of those said main events will take place in Auckland, New Zealand this coming week, as ‘The Irish Dragon’ Paul Felder will enter hostile territory to take on Dan Hooker.
It wasn’t always a story of swinging fists and bloody battles; Felder, father of four has always had a keen interest in martial arts and combat sports but never would’ve dreamt that he’d earn a living from fighting.
Born and raised in Philadelphia to Irish American parents, it wouldn’t be until Felder was a college student that the redhead with heavy hands would take his first fight. Whilst talking amongst his college buddies, Felder suggested that he wants to take an amateur fight, the rest is history.
Felder said in an interview with UFC.COM, “Yeah, I have to do it again,” he said to a group that had suddenly grown silent with the exception of someone who blurted, “What are you talking about?”
“That was the most addictive, craziest f**king feeling I’ve ever had in my entire life,” Felder responded. “I have to do it again and I have to do it better.”
Fast-forward a decade and the exact same rush is still something ‘The Irish Dragon’ continues to chase. I’ve spoken on fighters like Felder before; the level of intensity and aggression isn’t something that’s taught in a gym, Felder has the urge to fight because it runs through his veins. His culture, his people, the Irish love to fight. A degree in acting from the University of Arts should speak volumes on the matter; Felder has other options but continues to lace up the gloves.
It’s always a good feeling to watch Felder switch from his suit and tie at the UFC commentary desk to make that nerving walk to the octagon. A fan favorite, one of the Lightweight division’s most talented strikers and the all-around good guy will be back on our screens with a point to prove he’s not just all talk.

Dan Hooker (19-8-0)
The UFC’s Lightweight division is arguably the toughest and most stacked division of them all. With current champion Khabib Nurmagomedov remaining undefeated throughout his career, fighters ranked #2 – #10 are a fearsome bunch of dudes, Dan Hooker being one of them.
Currently ranked 8th, Hooker has been a Lightweight contender that nobody wants to fight. His UFC tenure wasn’t an easy one. Putting together back to wins became impossible for the New Zealand native and it wasn’t until 2017 with two years’ experience in the UFC before he found a winning streak.
Born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, the 30-year old ‘City Kickboxing’ star began his martial arts career in 2009 and amassed a record of 10-4 before being signed by the UFC. A former kickboxer and competitor in BJJ tournaments, Hookers skillset doesn’t stop at the striking.

Dan Hooker will be here to put on a show for his home town this coming weekend but, Paul Felder could be the toughest test of his career. In his previous 7 fights, Hooker has shown the evolution; finishing 5 of 7 inside the distance and only losing 1 of them, in a close decision battle against Edson Barboza. Putting away legends such as Ross Pearson, Jim Miller, and Mark Diakese isn’t something that’s easily accomplished. That said, taking out the home town boy with 10 knockouts on his record also, isn’t easy.
UFC Fight Night 168 will produce a fan-favorite main event and potentially a fight of the year candidate.

UFC FN 168: Felder vs. Hooker Prediction & Betting Pick
I don’t envy a single soul attempting to place money on this fight, whilst Paul Felder looks ever so tempting at underdog money; this contest is just one of those fights that even the world’s greatest analysts will struggle to predict.
Both fighters could be potential number one contenders and both fighters are tough enough to make their way right to the top. Their storylines are almost identical, they’ve both been fighting a lot but without main event status.
How can Hooker win the fight?
The kickboxing skill of Hooker is something to behold. Uppercuts, knees, no sorry… lethal knees! Hooker has fought a lot of guys who are smaller than him but, he proved himself against the bigger fighter in James Vick and in case you didn’t already know, Hooker has fought at Heavyweight in the past. Yes, you heard it… current UFC Lightweight Dan Hooker has competed and heavyweight, and won!
I think either fighter will have a knockout risk and opportunity, I don’t think we’ll see a knockout but for the first fifteen minutes of the fight, I believe the younger, hungrier fighter in Dan Hooker can take the advantage.

How can Felder win the fight?
The reality is, Felder is a busy man and putting your hard-earned money behind a fighter who has more variables than most, can be a risk. We have a potential fight of the night and year for the main event in New Zealand and the best way for Felder to find success will be with a vicious knockout. Fighting in hostile territory is always going to be a risk, take UFC 247 for example. You can’t allow the judges to make decisions especially when your opponent was born in the place you’re fighting.
Use SBR Odds to keep an eye on the odds and pounce when you feel necessary. I’ll also be interested in the ‘fight goes the distance’ prop market. Both fighters have 20 knockouts between them which could potentially juice up the odds on the ‘fight goes the distance’ prop.
